The National Applied Research Laboratories' Science & Technology Policy Research and Information Center (STPI) has been funding the nationwide academic subscription to the Reaxys database through CONCERT (Consortium on Core Electronic Resources in Taiwan) for over a decade, providing free access to universities and colleges with chemistry, pharmacy, and related departments.
Due to a significant price increase by the vendor, exceeding the center's budget, negotiations with the vendor have been ongoing since May 2024. After reporting to the competent authorities and consulting experts, it has been determined that the Reaxys database remains essential for continued subscription. In the long term, it is suggested that participating institutions contribute a portion of the subscription costs.
Currently, STPI is seeking financial support from the competent authorities to cover the budget shortfall for 2025. However, due to the need for funding allocation and procurement procedures, the vendor has stated that it cannot extend the current access period. As a result, Reaxys database services are expected to be suspended from April 1 to May 31, 2025.
